How to Make My Linksys 2.4 Wireless Router Secure

Linksys produce a lot of routers that are designed to generate wireless networks with the 2.4 GHz wireless band. Networks on the 2.4 GHz band can conform to the 802.11b, g or n values, at the time of publication. All Linksys router 2.4 GHz wireless routers are able of securing the wireless network. Each Linksys router can use the wired equal Privacy (WEP) set, though WEP is no longer careful a secure algorithm. WPA and WPAv2 are the preferred encryption methods if they are existing on your model Linksys router. You can make a Linksys 2.4 GHz wireless router secure by implementing wireless encryption.

Instructions

1. Type "192.168.1.1" without quotes into the address bar of your Web browser. Press "Enter."

2. Enter the Linksys username &  password. Use "admin" for both the username &  password for newer Linksys routers.  Use a blank username and "admin" for the secret word on older Linksys routers.

3. Click "Wireless" and then click "Wireless Security."

4. Click the drop-down list next to "Security Mode." Choose WPAv2, if available. Otherwise, choose WPA or WEP.

5. Enter the desired wireless code word or WEP key, and then click "Save Settings."
